Knowing the Gospel

This Bible study on John 3:16 helps us understand the gospel in a personal way before we share it with others.


Discussion Guide:

Ice Breaker: Go around your circle and share this week’s highs and lows. What was the best part of your week and what was the lowest part of your week?

Q1: What’s one thing that stood out to you from today’s message?

Q2: The Gospel means “good news.” Tell the group about a time you were excited to share good news with family or friends.

Q3: How can we increase our excitement to share the good news of the gospel with our loved ones?

Q4: John 3:16 is the most popular verse in the whole Bible. When have you seen that verse outside of church? Why do you think so many people know it?

Q5: Have everyone in the group try to sum up the message of the gospel in ten words or less. Be creative!

Q6: Salvation is a gift. What is our natural response to a gift? How does this apply to our salvation?

Q7: Have you experienced being saved by Jesus? If you'd like to share that experience with the group, we'd love to hear about it.

Application: Before you can share the gospel, you have to understand it through a personal relationship with Jesus. What’s one way you can strengthen your relationship with Jesus? Commit to taking that step this week.
